An exciting classic, the most famous, eternal chick of 15 March Square - of course it's the poppy seed porridge. Why is this dessert so exciting in our country? We're going to give you a little insight!

Poppy seed bean, boba - whatever you call it, it's a favourite that most of us have probably encountered in our mum's or grandma's kitchen. You could say it's a Hungaricum, but it's also known as Mohnpielen in the east of Germany and Makówki in Poland.
Poppy seed poppy seed puba was originally a sweet made for Christmas in this country. The many poppy seeds were a symbol of abundance, money and good produce, and became a fixture on festive tables and later a regular feature in everyday dishes and desserts.

Contrary to popular belief, the basis of poppy seed poppy seed dough is not a bun but a delicious yeasty dough. The women used to shape the dough into pan-length sticks, which they rolled up before or after baking. When used, it was doused with lukewarm water and sprinkled with ground poppy seeds mixed with sugar.

Nowadays, for practical reasons, the original base is usually replaced by a ring of rolled dough. This is then doused with vanilla hot milk, which the buns absorb nicely. This makes the whole thing juicy and delicious. The dessert is then either reheated in a baking pan or perfected with sugared poppy seeds and vanilla custard and served immediately.

Because of its popularity, poppy seed puffs are of course a much appreciated feature on restaurant dessert menus. KIOSK's iconic guba has been the flagship of the menu for years - and of course a huge crowd favourite.
The idea and recipe for the perfect guba was conceived in chef Gábor Orosz's head during a trip to Barcelona. The starting point was a Catalan sweet soaked in milk, and he wanted to achieve a similar effect with the poppy seed pube. The idea was perfected and put into practice by the pastry chef at KIOSK.
