Face behind KIOSK - Hubert Hlatky-Schlichter

KIOSK is the Babel Budapest, Piazza and KIOSK Kantin are all success stories, all backed by the same eternally optimistic, enterprising man. Hubert Hlatky-Schlichter comes from a bohemian, large family, where five were brothers and sisters. And because of his translator grandfather, many people from writers to film directors have visited them.

Thanks to his great-grandmother, grandmothers and grandfather, something good always happened in their kitchen, so he learned from an early age how to love and enjoy life. This is a philosophy that he has carried forward into his career.

After his studies, he soon realised that he was more comfortable in a self-fulfilling entrepreneurial life than in a traditional career, and that gastronomy was the field where he could really develop his full potential.

One of the innovators of Budapest's gastronomic scene, he started his restaurant career in the Hungarian capital more than a decade ago, and his lovechild KIOSK has since become an iconic place in the city. The previously abandoned 15 March Square was suddenly filled with a sense of honest, vibrant, cosmopolitan life, as Hubert himself conveyed, which was later complemented by the funky open-air venue Piazza next door. The list of successes would not be complete, however, without mentioning another dream come true, his restaurant Babel: Hubert's project, based on a reinvention of Hungarian tradition, refined to world-class standards, in fine dining guise, and even a Michelin star.

But there is a common denominator in the seemingly eclectic portfolio: concepts of guest experience, crafted with love, care and attention, which are a kind of alter ego of Hubert's personality.

If a portrait of a very diverse character has not emerged so far, it certainly will now: Hubert is an entrepreneur to the core, but also a philanthropist. But he is also a philanthropist, but also a philanthropist in his own right. In this spirit, he has set up his foundation "Helping Angels", which regularly organises charity collections and projects to help those in need.

In his free time, Hubert enjoys sports, travelling, hiking and, of course, spending time with his loved ones.
